2008 PURE STOCK RULES

IF IT DOESN’T SAY IT; YOU CAN’T DO IT.

 

1. Any stock US production model 1960 and newer. No convertibles, station wagons or trucks allowed.

2. Minimum stock wheelbase allowed: 108".  No shortening of frame or body.

3. No bracing anywhere of any kind.

4. All doors must be welded, chained or bolted shut.

5. All glass must be removed and replaced with screen.

6. Approved seat belts and approved shoulder harness required. Belts must be 3 inches in width and in good condition. Five point quick release system recommended. Made for racing seats mandatory.

7. Adequate firewall mandatory.

8. Complete bumper-to-bumper steel uni-body must be retained.

9.  Stock steel unaltered floor pan to rear of 4 point cage. Stock Steel firewall - Must have steel rear firewall.

10. Stock Steel frame must be retained up to center of rear end. Holes in hood optional, hood must be kept in place at all times. Body sheet metal must be kept in place at all times.

11. Front firewall must be sealed.

12. Tow chain is mandatory on front and rear. (Chain or cable)

13. Cars must have a bumper. Each bumper should have two chains or straps to help prevent it from falling off.

14. Minimum weight at ANY TIME is 3200 pounds with the driver.

15. "Added" weight must be bolted, welded or securely fastened. Installation must be approved by the technical inspector.

16. All weights must be painted white and numbered to the car.

17. Window nets are mandatory.

18. Full roll cage mandatory.

19. All cars must have a number on both doors and on the top (18" or larger) and must be very visible.

20. Solid motor mounts and mid-mounts are ok.

21. Optional: maximum 5" tall spoiler.

22. Quick steer box allowed

23. Must have 4 working brakes. Brake bias optional.

ENGINE (360 CID RULE)

1. The engine must be strictly stock for that make and model of car and its original mount position. No SB 400's!

2. No aluminum intakes or heads. No bow ties. Aluminum water pumps allowed.

3. Stock hydraulic cams only!

4. 300 lift at base of cam. May run 1.5 or 1.6 stock rocker arms. (Example: 1.5 = 450 LIFT OR 1.6=480 LIFT).

5. No porting or grinding of any kind on heads, intake or exhaust. Porting under valves only is ok.

6. May run roller rocker arms. 1.5 or 1.6 only --- stud girdles allowed.

7. Basically: Don't do anything to the motor. 1.94-1.50 Valves max only for Chevrolet 1.85-1.54 for fords.

8. No stroking of motors. 6" rods legal.

9. All factory heads 72CC & 305 heads are allowed. No Double hump heads allowed. Tech man must inspect and approve.

10. Pumping and tear down if necessary!!

11. May run dish or flat top pistons only!!! Maximum bore .060.

12. 1 5/8" headers allowed no step-ups.

13. 1 piece rear main seal motor allowed in Chevrolets. May run adapter for old style crank.

 

CARBURETOR

1. Cars may have one stock unaltered 2 barrel or 4 barrel carburetors, 600 Holley allowed (will be gauged). No rear metering block in rear of carburetor. Jet plate allowed. Choke horn can be removed.

2. Adapter plated for 4 barrel to 2 barrel is allowed. 1 inch max adaptor plate.

3. Fuel must be gasoline. No alcohol, alcohol base, nitrous base, or nitro methane.

4. Any quadrajet allowed.

5. May run dual lines but not double pumpers.

 

TRANSMISSIONS & REAR ENDS

1. Stock automatic transmissions and power glide with working torque converter and reverse must be in working order.

2. Locked, or positive traction rear ends are allowed.

3. May run 9" Ford with stock suspension.                                       

4. Floaters and disk brakes on rear ends are allowed.

5.  360 degree driveshaft hoop is mandatory, installed on forward third of driveshaft.

6.  Driveshaft must be steel and stock for that car. Driveshaft must be painted white!!!!

7.  Rear ends may be substituted provided track width is not altered.

8.  No quick change rear ends

GAS TANK INSTALLATION

1. The stock tank must be removed and replaced with a fuel cell. Fuel cell must be in a metal case. No exceptions.

Tank must be secured by at least 2 straps over the tank. must be 1 1/2 X 1 1/8" strips.

2. No holes allowed in trunk lid. One fuel tank only.

3. The fuel line must exit from the top of the tank. No fuel lines in the driver's compartment.

4. A complete firewall must be seal the trunk area from the driver's compartment.  No aluminum inside the car for front or rear firewalls.

5. Installation subject to the inspection by the technical inspector.

SUSPENSION

1. Racing or stock springs allowed.

2. Any car found to be modified in any way will be disqualified.

3. Shocks one per wheel, front must be in stock location

4.  Jack bolts allowed only in rear.

5.  Stock trailing arm, bottom stock, top can be altered for pinion angle. Must be stock type and in the stock location. Rubber type bushings (no steel).

 

TIRES AND WHEELS

1. Tires must be stock passenger tires only. No truck tires. No fancy recaps, aftermarket, exotic trick gumball tires of any kind. No Hoosier, McCreary or any made for racing tire. All four tires must be the same size (14" or 15")

2. Maximum 8" wheels with 60 series or 75 series tires.

3. No grooving of tires.

4. Steel wheels only and must have 1" lug nuts on all wheels.

5. Bead locks optional.  

ROLL BAR & CAGE INSTALLATION

1. Must be built from steel tubing (no pipe of any kind) 1 1/2 O.D. x .095" wall thickness. All tubing must be welded with ARC, MIG or TIG. Full 4 post roll cage with at least 1 horizontal bar behind driver from left to right, in the main roll bar a diagonal brace from top to bottom in the main roll bar, a minimum of 3 horizontal door bars in passenger side, 2 braces from top of main roll bar down to trunk floor (behind rear axle), a horizontal bar from left to right between front cage post at dash height, and 2 braces or snout hoop forward from dash brace to front subframe horns. Other bars or braces to protect radiators, etc. are allowable, but must remain inside body lines.

 

PURE STOCK PROTEST

1. $250.00 Cash tear down rule. Any driver is subject to protest by any other driver in the same division. Protest must be made within 15 minutes after the feature race. $250.00 cash must be paid to the track manager. Protest pertains to carburetor, intake, heads, exhaust, and top of piston stroke. Track will retain $50.00 of tear down fee. Winner of protest will receive $200.00 cash. 

2. $500.00 for a complete tear down. Track will retain $100.00 REGARDLESS

3. Any car is subject to inspection by track officials at any time.

4. Refusal to permit inspection will result in immediate disqualification and loss of  money and points for that night.

 

Technical Inspectors Decision is Final
